I cant speak for others, for me it was a long running thing. Culturally speaking i think African American women especially in the early 2000s got their nails done longer, so for me i thinks its cultural, i simply linked longer nails to beauty and femininity since i was a child. I think i simply take a more obsessive spin on it but i personally feel that long nails reflect beauty and femininity in a way that other body parts cant do necessarily.

In my case, it was a kindergarten teacher who had nails that were slightly longer than what you usually see. But my fascination with toenails developed later, during puberty, when I had access to the internet and started searching for information about my main fetish..

Indeed, a girl in kindergarten. Her nails were only about 5mm but it was a third the length of her nail beds so they looked very long. Also her nail beds were slender and arched (side to side), not the stubby, wide and flat typical of her age. Funny I can still recall her hands and nails in perfect detail yet I no longer can remember her face. I also recall her nails were perfectly squared with sharp corners as one would expect if they'd simply grown from the last time they were cut.
