Dramatic nailbed transformations

Postby arty_line » Sun Dec 22, 2024 10:42 am

First of all, the long nailbed thread is now not only the most commented one on this forum (that has been the case for a really long time), but the most viewed one as well, even though it was created more than four years after the long nail Youtube thread. This truly shows that we have a place here, but it also shows that new threads are very good thing if we want to show/talk about something that's slightly different.

So! Have you ever looked at someone's nailbeds and went "hmm, these don't seem as good as when I first saw them"? I was always fascinated by the change in one's nailbeds over time: do they change a lot after they reach their final form at the end of childhood? Is there even such a thing as a final form or do they change all the time? Obviously, the signs of aging can appear, but is there anything else to it?

The problem is that it's really hard to research this topic as there are very few people on the internet with extensive documentation of this over several years. Furthermore, for most people, their nails don't change too much. So here's a conversation starter for all of you. Look at her thumbs here (from about 6 years ago, at the age of 18), here (from about 4 years ago, at the age of 20) and here (from now, at the age of 25). Quite different, aren't they?

Have you ever encountered similar dramatic changes in nailbeds?

I first met my wife when she was 15 and the attraction was her very long nails, they must have had nearly an inch of growth.... I was already well into nails, mainly by shape and these were not the right shape but the length made up for it.

At her age of 19, we were married (not because of her nails!) , by then her nails were short because of her work.

Here are photos at age of 19 and 80.

Yes, nailbeds do change shape over time, mainly in curvature but length also. I've witnessed this in my many aunts and of course my dear wife. The shape is all connected with the bone structure of the body which changes shape as the person ages.

I am sure Leni, that your constant attention over the years has had a lot to do with the development of your wife's nailbeds.

I am fascinated with Carlos Alberto. OK so he's a guy, but he is a nail tech who uses one hand to show off his work and works on the nailbeds and cuticles. The other hand is ignored and the difference is amazing. Look at the nailbed length on the left hand compared to the right.

I don't know if this is real, but I don't know how she managed to have better beautiful long nail beds.
