Nocturne (Spider-Man)

Nocturne, aka Angela Cairn, is one of the most underrated Spider-Man villains, and it's a real shame that Marvel hasn't utilized her more. Debuting in *The Spectacular Spider-Man Annual #13* in 1993, her character stands out for her complex backstory and eerie, supernatural design. A former NYPD officer turned mutant vigilante after a horrific transformation, Nocturne embodies a blend of horror and tragedy that would fit perfectly in Marvel’s darker narratives. But unfortunately, her character remains largely forgotten outside her initial appearances.

One of the things I absolutely love about Nocturne is her design, particularly her sharp, clawed nails, which she uses as deadly weapons. Her claws are incredibly unique and contribute so much to her combat style, allowing her to take on even tough opponents like Spider-Man. There's something about long, lethal nails that gives a character a wild, primal edge, and Nocturne's claws remind me of similar fierce characters like Marvel's Tigra, DC's Cheetah, and Lady Deathstrike. Just like these iconic characters, Nocturne's claws aren't just for show—they're a central part of her identity as a hunter and predator.

It's this combination of Nocturne's clawed, bat-like features and her empathetic powers that makes her stand out to me. The claws add a visceral physicality to her otherwise ghostly, emotion-driven existence. They symbolize the animalistic rage she feels after her transformation, the way she’s become this hybrid of human and monstrous. I wish Marvel would bring her back into the spotlight—her abilities and look are just too good to remain sidelined.
