Vintage (no later than 80s) of very long (at least an inch long) nails from TV/film/magazines/movies?

While we have come a long way in terms of promoting and finding the LNB's out there, there were in fact a few (key word) that go back further than you might think, for example:

In this December 11, 1939 issue of Life magazine, Juliette Marglen proudly shows off her inch+ long nails and even had a one year birthday party for them (how cute). As you can see they looked so so good...but sadly it does not have a happy ending. :(

I also remember somewhere an article from the 1930s or so where a woman has grown her nails for a few years or so because she was so pleased to have kicked her nail biting habit...I sure wish I could find it again.

Also sometimes in high school yearbooks (believe it or not) one of the senior categories was "longest fingernails" and I think at some county fairs in addition to "longest hair/ponytail contest" there sometimes was a "longest fingernails" contest. For example here Marilyn Pool in this 1976 yearbook proudly shows off her lovely glorious nails :)

Some other nice LNB's from vintage yearbooks:

And back in 1982 (sadly she didn't have them for very long; pardon the pun) the First Lady of Country Music had some incredible nails!

Here Tiffany in her most famous song, if you pay attention is sometimes seen with some good nails:

So while we certainly didn't see very long nails very often, even in the decades past there were some.

Some impressive detective work there!

Juliette Marglen deserves a spot in the LNB Hall of Fame for her efforts, sadly it looks like she did not persist with goddess length, but certainly got some recognition for her manicure business.

Marilyn Pool was certainly in a small and rare category of natural lnbs for her era also, this was before widespread availability of overlays and tips.

In the 70s I remember when Sonny and Cher got divorced, one of the items in their dispute was that Cher was spending thousands of dollars a year on her long nails...there were expensive overlays done back then using dental materials, which was the impetus for later low cost materials and manicure techniques.

Here's a Pinterest with a lot of vintage Cher: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/180988478754181373/

She sadly didn't stick with it for very long (pardon the pun) but back in 1982 the First Lady of Country Music had some awesome, awesome nails as you can see here (search Tammy Wynette 1982 on YouTube to see a few more; it's a bit hard to find videos that show them very clearly though):

And just like with Cher, there is of course Barbara Streisand but the trick part is that they didn't usually have them REALLY long...but at some points (again pardon the pun) they did have them at an awesome peak length...I think for Babs it was 1965 or 1970 or something? When was Cher's at their peak length? Dolly Parton also comes to mind but again, when did she have her nails at their longest?

Oh and for the record I don't care of the nails were real or fake just so long as the fakes were worn as their everyday look (not just for say, a movie calling for a long nail character or something).

Anyone here remember Tiffany from the late 80s? Well here in the video of her most famous song, if you pay attention you can see some really good nails:

Patricia McClain was Playmate for May 1976.

Although her nails are barely notable in the context of today, for that time they were pretty amazing.
She was from California, and perhaps had access to some of the early overlay technology, but I never saw any comments from her relative to her nails.

Oh, I remember seeing this video back then and was propably quite mesmorized by the lady with the gigantic hair
The nails were fake though because apparently she played the bass guitar in the band.

Cool thanks for that link, yeah I remember some of the beauties in those 80's hair bands and many of them had hot nails. Even some of the guitar and bass players, most not to the level of Dolly Parton but a few could manage it.
